Audition Information and Requirements

Auditions for the Austin Lyric Opera Chorus will be held Thursday, August 23rd, in the evening; Saturday, August 25th in the afternoon; Monday, the 27th, evening; Tuesday, the 28th, evening; Tuesday, September 4th, evening and Thursday, September 6th, evening. Prospective candidates for chorus auditions should have some experience in singing in different languages (Italian, German, French, etc) . They should also be aware that quality singing is only part of the responsibility of an ALO Chorus member; good mobility, movement, and stage presence are also requirements.

For an audition, each candidate should:

• Prepare two memorized selections (art song or aria) in two languages
• Provide one copy of a performance résumé and headshot or other photo
• Complete an audition form (available at auditions)
• Familiarize him/herself with the rehearsal schedule (available at auditions) and advise ALO of any potential conflicts during the audition process
