Early Childhood Registration Schedule 2007-08

Pre-Registration is available to families currently enrolled in an ACMS class. ACMS cannot reserve space in any Early Childhood Music class until full payment has been received. Because our school serves over 1,000 students, we are not able to provide class confirmation. Your confirmation will be made at the time of your registration.

Demo Classes

We will be hosting our next free demo classes for families who have not previously been in our Early Childhood Music Classes in May.  Please check this page again in mid-late April for information about how to sign up for one of these classes.

Music Together®

Music Together is a series of mixed-age music classes for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers. These weekly, 45-minute classes feature singing, rhythmic chants, playful creative movement activities, and instrumental jam sessions with a variety of rhythm instruments. Children participate at their own level, when they are ready to do so. There is no performance pressure for children or their caregivers, though your active participation in class and at home creates the musical environment in which children develop musical intelligence. Research has shown that children learn their disposition toward music from their primary caregiver. Even if a parent is not especially musical, that parent's musical enthusiasm is a very important model for their child. These classes teach you how to begin teaching your child music, and most importantly, they are FUN for everyone involved.

Each Music Together semester features a particular song collection, and each family receives a songbook and CD for reinforcement and enjoyment throughout the week while you are in-between classes.

Originally offered to the public in 1987, Music Together pioneered the concept of a research-based, developmentally appropriate early childhood music curriculum that strongly emphasizes and facilitates adult participation. The Music Together approach develops every child's innate musical ability by encouraging the physical experiencing of music rather than the learning of concepts or information about music. It began as an educational project of the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, New Jersey, and is now being taught internationally.

A parent or caregiver must accompany each child to class. Additional siblings who have not reached their 1st birthday by the first day of the term are free. Space is limited, so register your child today by calling 474-2331.

Early Childhood Cancellations and Refunds

Classes that do not enroll a required minimum number of students 5 days prior to class convening may be cancelled. Students that have paid for a cancelled class will receive a refund or may apply credit to another class or private lesson. ACMS will allow a one-time cancellation of a class registration or class switch without penalty. A $15 fee will be imposed for multiple registration changes.

If a family needs to drop a class, ACMS will refund the classes missed if the class is dropped within the first 3 weeks of class during long sessions (5 weeks or longer). Refunds are not available after class has begun for short sessions (3 or 4 week sessions).  Once Materials (Songbook & CD) have been picked up, the cost of these materials is nonrefundable.

The Armstrong Community Music School has a one-time $25 registration fee per family. This charge covers all of our programs and is valid for an entire household.

Spring 2008 Music Together®

Cost: $195.00, 10 weeks; except ECR 27: $180.00, 9 weeks

Cost includes tuition and one set of materials.

Sibling tuition: $135.00

Additional infant siblings, born after 03/17/07 are free for mixed-age classes.

Our primary location is 901 Barton Springs Road.

Our Steiner Ranch location is St. Luke's on the Lake Episcopal Church, located at 5600 Ranch Road 620.
