Opera by Night

Austin Lyric Opera welcomes students to an evening rehearsal before each opera production. A preparatory packet will be e-mailed to the school prior to the performance to prepare students for the opera experience. These evenings are for fifth grade through high school students and their chaperones.  A ratio of 1 adult to 3 or more students is appropriate. The dress rehearsal for Carmen will be on Wednesday, April 16, 2008, and the deadline to make a reservation is Tuesday, April 8.  The dress rehearsal for The Bat is Wednesday, May 28, 2008, and the deadline to make a reservation is Tuesday, May 20.  Dress rehearsals start at 7:00 p.m. and are held in the new Long Center for the Performing Arts.  Cost: $5.00 per student and $7.00 per adult.  Reservations for Carmen will be taken beginning March 3, and reservations for The Bat will be taken beginning April 28.  Make your reservation by clicking here.  If you have questions, please email Liz Cass.  

 

Be an Artist (grades 3-6)

Well-known songwriter, Darden Smith, guides students through the songwriting process to produce their own original work. Darden will also perform some of his favorite songs and talk about composing as a profession.   A CD of their song will be recorded on-site. Dates: TBD.  Call 472-5927 ext: 109.
