La Noche de Opera
La Noche de Opera has been one of Austin Lyric Opera’s greatest successes, providing social and educational activities to members of the Hispanic community for over 15 years. Last season more than 100 members participated in a wide variety of activities. Before each production, members of La Noche de Opera gather together in private homes, art galleries, or restaurants to share a glass of wine, savor sumptuous hors d’oeuvres and listen to Director of Education Margaret Perry or visiting directors, designers, or performers as they give their special insights into the upcoming production. Brief performances by singers round out the experience and make attending one of these receptions a great introduction to each opera. La Noche de Opera members also attend events at other organizations, put together a table for the ALO Ball, and raise funds for the Armstrong Community Music School through its Gus Garcia Scholarship Fund Raiser. You don’t need a previous knowledge of opera to become a member. “La Noche’s” relaxed events are the perfect way to learn more about this wonderful art form.
