The wines that have been assembled and grouped into eighteen live auction lots are all ranked on the Robert Parker scale between 90 and 98 points, along with handy tasting notes and maturity guides listed in the Wine Dinner & Auction Program. You can add some really dazzling wines to your collection, including a 1988 magnum of Taitinger Comtes de Champagne (ranked 97 points)—ready now or later for toasting an extraordinary occasion! Jeroboams are another festive size, and there will be several superlative Barolos of that magnitude on offer, as well as some magnums of Italian reds with a 96-point rating.
Most lots include three to twelve (750 ml) bottles from the same region or in a vertical flight. Tuscany, Burgundy, Napa and Sonoma are regions that are well-represented. There is a rare Riesling vertical flight, more dazzling champagnes, a very seductive half case of 2010 Opus One (rated 96 points) in its original wooden box, a treasury of Warre’s vintage Ports (6 bottles) from 1970 through 1994, and on and on. The ALO Guild Past Presidents’ Basket includes a 2009 Malbec from Argentina with a 98-point rating.
Every wine in the Live Auction deserves its own description—which you can find in the Wine Dinner & Auction Program. These are all celestial stars, with lots of appeal, so please spend some time getting to know what’s on offer, and plan to make at least some of them your own!
