REVIEWS: Verdi’s Don Carlo

Austin Lyric Opera opened its 2013-14 Season with Verdi’s intense Don Carlo in November, what one Austin critic called, “an opera lover’s dream, bursting at the seams with complex philosophical tensions, powerfully effusive music, charismatic characters, and, most importantly, a resounding and pulsating heartbeat.” Maestro Richard Buckley pulled terrific performances from the chorus, orchestra and all-star cast – some of the strongest voices in opera today. Featuring principal actors James Valenti, Keri Alkema,  Peter Volpe and Michael Chioldi.
