Education & Community Programs

Welcome to the world of opera!

Opera by Night – There is no better way for a young person to become acquainted with opera than to attend a dress rehearsal.  These evenings are designed for fifth grade through high school depending on the content of each production.   These events are free of charge.  Each adult attending must be accompanied by three or more students.  This seasons Opera by Night performances will be Mozart’s masterpiece The Magic Flute on November 3 at 7 pm, Donizetti’s dramatic Lucia di Lammermoor on January 26, 2012 at 7 pm, and Puccini’s powerful Turandot on April 12, 2012 at 7 pm.

Opera Treasure Chests – These entertaining and educational Treasure Chests will be available for teachers for one month in their classrooms. The curriculum is a first introduction to opera for 1st through 3rd grade and will include lesson plans, DVD’s, books, and costumes. These treasure chests are free, but a singer and a pianist may visit the classroom for the low price of $175 to entertain the students with opera highlights if you so choose. Live performances can be scheduled for any time during the three weeks an Opera Treasure Chest is in the classroom.
