Pre-opera lectures
Austin Lyric Opera offers free pre-opera lectures for all operas. One hour before every performance a lecturer gives a free 30-minute talk on the opera that follows.

All pre-opera lectures take place on the main floor of Dell Hall at The Long Center. Seating is unreserved, and while there is no charge for admission, an opera ticket for that specific performance is required. Doors open approximately 15 minutes before the start of the lectures, which begin an hour before the performance begins.

Concessions
The Long Center lobbies are equipped with snack and specialty bars.  Concession areas are typically open 1-1.5 hours prior to performance start time and remain open throughout intermission. For your convenience an ATM is located inside on the Orchestra Level Lobby behind the Armstrong/Connely East Grand Staircase. In addition, the Box Office and all interior concession points accept all major credit cards.

You don’t even have to wait in line during intermission.  Place your order for drinks, snacks and desserts at any bar before the event begins.  At intermission, your order will be waiting for you!

What if I’m late?
All evening performances (Friday and Saturday) start at 7:30 pm and the matinee performance (Sunday) starts at 3 pm. Please arrive early. Latecomers will not be admitted to the auditorium until intermission. Warning chimes are sounded pre-performance and intermission prior to curtain. Audience members who leave the auditorium during a performance will not be readmitted until intermission. The Long Center offers live video feed screens in each of its lobbies.
